The Springfield Story
Springfield is the capital of Illinois and one of its largest cities, but is a substantial distance from Chicago and other established Orthodox communities in the state. Since moving to the community and establishing the local Chabad, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Mendy and Sara Turen have been working tirelessly to spread awareness of Torah and halachah among the hundreds of local Jews, which include many government employees. Building a mikvah is an indispensable step in this effort, as a trip to the nearest mikvah is outside the realm of all but the most dedicated observant residents.
