The South Bend Story
There are approximately one hundred Orthodox families residing in South Bend, with thousands of additional Jews in the region. The community has a vibrant Shul, school network, Eruv and more. Plentiful job opportunities, school vouchers and a low cost of living are major draws. The existing mikvah was built decades ago. It is significantly smaller than what can accommodate the community of today and its condition is deteriorating. The nearest suitable mikvah is in Chicago, a two hour drive. Residents are eagerly anticipating the completion of the attractive, spacious new mikvah – which can spread taharah observance well beyond its current confines.
