The Pensacola Story
The city of Pensacola is home to beautiful beaches, a bustling metropolitan community and rich cultural history. Although the small Jewish community dates back 150 years, there has never been a mikvah here. A new Chabad center was established a couple of years ago and reawakening Yiddishkeit in the area. In addition, this Chabad center services the Jewish students of the University of West Florida, where unaffiliated students learn about Judaism at the Chabad center. With the addition of a mikvah, local women and students will now be able to learn about Taharas Hamishpacha, something that has been impossible until now as the closest mikvah is an hour and half drive.
