The Oceanside Story
This vibrant, growing Long Island area community renovated its old mikvah in 2009, with the help of Mikvah USA. This spurred a major boost in taharah observance and the overall religious character of the community. Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy in 2012 hit the Oceanside area very hard. The mikvah was very badly damaged, as were most Jewish homes in the area. Additionally, the closest mikvaos and their communities were badly damaged as well. Once again, Mikvah USA answered the call, offering invaluable assistance in both logistics and fundraising. The mikvah was thoroughly repaired and renovated, and is now serving a larger than ever number of residents.
