The Merrick Story
This Long Island town has substantial Orthodox community, with four diverse Shuls. Nevertheless, constructing a local mikvah seemed to be an impossible task. There were compounding difficulties related to acquiring a property, securing a mortgage, raising funds, and many other logistics. The mikvah campaign took a full decade. Mikvah USA’s experience, funding resources – and the patience and persistence of its askanim and donors – ultimately transformed the situation. There were open miracles along the way, including a surprise donor for nearly $1 million and the birth of healthy children to two couples struggling with severe infertility, shortly after friends donated towards the Merrick mikvah in their merit.
