The Fort Worth Story
The Jewish community in this large, fast growing city is small and tight knit, with the local Chabad at its core. The community enjoys a range of programs that celebrate Jewish holidays and other occasions, and celebrated the opening of a mikvah of its own in 2011. This renowned “Cowtown” attracts Jewish visitors from other parts of the country, who come to Fort Worth to produce quality kosher meat. A group of Satmar Chassidim from New York became close to the community and helped sponsor the mikvah, which is called “Divrei Yoel.” Unfortunately, unprofessional workmanship by a subcontractor has caused many of the tiles to fall off, among other decay. A modest renovation project has been undertaken to ensure that the mikvah remains attractive and well-built for the long haul.
