The Chattanooga Story
Knoxville and Chattanooga are Tennessee’s third and fourth most populous cities, with a combined approximately 6,000 Jewish residents. Orthodox Jews in both cities rely on the Chattanooga mikvah, as do many Jewish travelers utilizing the nearby interstate highway. Unfortunately, the older mikvah in town has minimal amenities and is in deteriorating condition. Several women, not willing to travel two hours to the nearest alternative, have unfortunately abandoned taharah as a result. The beautiful new mikvah, located in the modern new Chabad House, will iy”H make an inestimable difference in the spiritual landscape throughout the region.
