The Buffalo Grove Story
This fast growing Chicago suburb has a significant Jewish population, and when Rabbi Shimon Zehnwirth opened the first Orthodox school, it marked a milestone in the development of Buffalo Grove Orthodoxy. Rabbi Zehnwirth recognized that it is crucial for the community to have its own mikvah as well. Local Jewish residents, including many who were not fully observant, were excited at the prospect and Mikvah USA stepped in to assist. However, even by the standard of other complex projects, there were an inordinate number of difficulties and obstacles throughout the mikvah construction project. The Mikvah USA team never gave up, and invested inestimable time, human resources and funding through completion. The beautiful new mikvah now serves as the core of community life and the flourishing of Torah true Judaism.
