The Austin Story
Austin is Texas’s state capital and home to the flagship campus of the University of Texas. The city’s Jewish community is established – with Shuls, schools, kosher food and more – and constantly growing,
in large part due to Jewish university students. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Levertov have been at the forefront of community life for decades, placing a strong emphasis on spreading taharah. However, the lackluster condition of Chabad’s thirty year old mikvah – the only one in Austin – made that an uphill struggle. Thanks to Mikvah USA’s assistance, the mikvah was renovated into a breathtakingly upscale premises – sending a warm invitation to the city’s Jewish residents and students.
